Meet the Collegiate Presidents,

Kayla Hill Jones

 President- Old Dominion University

My high-school graduation announcements had a quote on the back, “girls with dreams, become women with visions.” Now, I am in college and growing into who I am and I didn’t realize how much weight that quote would hold. I am a completing my undergraduate education at Old Dominion University majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies and Political Science. After undergrad, I plan to attend law school. As a little girl, when I was asked what I wanted to be my answer was a lawyer. Why? Because I liked to argue. I realize now, being a lawyer is much more than arguing. Being a lawyer you become an advocate, a counselor and you have the ability to impact a persons life or a group of people. You have the ability to give people who are not heard a voice. As I am growing into the woman I aspire to be I understand how important it is to do as much as you can in order to leave the world a more beautiful place. That same understanding and passion led me to charter an organization on campus, “The Good Girl Movement.” The Good Girl Movement on Old Dominion's campus is a community service based organization. It is not about being a saint but it is about being genuine, not only to yourself but to your community as well. Our goal is to create a place where women can be themselves and be 100 percent comfortable with who they are. I am ecstatic to see this organization as well as its members blossom on campus. I believe the future is bright for us.

Natalie Smalls

 President- Howard University

Natalie Smalls is Junior Political Science Major, Strategic And Legal Communications & Economics Double  Minor from Washington, DC. She leads her life with the scripture Psalms 139:14, reminding not only herself, but everyone around her, that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made. This gives her the strength to keep accomplishing her goals. After undergrad, Natalie plans to enroll in Law School and obtain her J.D./ MBA, as well as continue to advocate for her hometown of Washington, DC in anyway she can. She has participated in marching, concert, and jazz band for 12 years, where she played the clarinet, saxophone, flute, and also was apart of not only the dance team but the flag team. After taking a break from her musical aspirations, she decided to spread her energy into doing political, community service, and divinity work. Natalie serves as the Membership Committee Chair for THE Howard University NAACP, has served with Alternative Spring Break HU, Myth mentors, The Fairy God Sisters, United Way DC, and is a Missionary and Sunday School teacher at her home church, New Home Baptist Church. Her passion for The Good Girl Movement comes from knowing the importance of capturing everyone’s individual stories and callings not only at Howard University, but across the world. “It would be remiss of me, not sow into others when so many have sowed into me”, is the mindset she keeps.
Without question, she knows The Good Girl Movement will continue to reach success, with or without her, but considers this opportunity an honor to help grow this organization at Howard University where she can help encourage and inspire young women to exceed the odds people put against them.
