Howard University

Natalie is a senior Political Science and Administration of Justice Double Major from a Washington DC. She aspires to be a lawyer and work in public policy on the behalf of black women after college. From a young age she turned her passion for politics, music, and service into her life’s ministry. Using these passions to educate the community she grew up in and be a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

As her undergrad career comes to an end this school year, Natalie has been accepted to many Law Schools ranked in the top 20, including the number one Yale Law School and the number three, Harvard Law School. Although she sees her accomplishments for law school as something to be proud of, she prides The Good Girl Movement as her best undergrad accomplish to date.

As the chartering president of the Howard University Chapter of The Good Girl Movement, Natalie feels that the work she and the entire organization has and continues to do is the best philanthropic and service based work she has done during her Howard experience. She believes this organization gives women the chance to unapologetic be who they’re called to be, free of judgment and worry. She is happy about the continual growth of this organization and cannot wait to see what we accomplish next!

Her high-school graduation announcements had a quote on the back, “girls with dreams, become women with visions.” Now, She’s in college and growing into who she is and didn’t realize how much weight that quote would hold. completing her undergraduate education at Old Dominion University majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies and Political Science. After undergrad, planning to attend law school.

As a little girl, when asked what she wanted to be, my answer was a lawyer. Why? Because she liked to argue. realizing now, being a lawyer is much more than arguing. Being a lawyer you become an advocate, a counselor and you have the ability to impact a persons life or a group of people. You have the ability to give people who are not heard a voice. As she’s growing into the woman she aspires to be she understands how important it is to do as much as you can in order to leave the world a more beautiful place.

That same understanding and passion led her to charter an organization on campus, “The Good Girl Movement.” The Good Girl Movement on Old Dominion's campus is a community service based organization. It is not about being a saint but it is about being genuine, not only to yourself but to your community as well. Our goal is to create a place where women can be themselves and be 100 percent comfortable with who they are. she’s ecstatic to see this organization as well as its members blossom on campus. the future is bright for us.

“It’s not the weight of the load that breaks you, it’s the way you carry it”-unknown. This quote has resonated with Zyann ever since her first year of undergrad, She remember always feeling like there was no place she really belonged—So she created one.

The Good Girl Movement on her campus was chartered to serve and uplift those who can not uplift themselves. They encourage transparency, selflessness, & self discovery. They accept not having all the right answers or knowing what to do all the time but they all hold each other accountable and stay true to themselves.

Zyann is completing her undergraduate degree at Western Illinois University majoring in Political Science with a pre-law emphasis and a minor in Event planning and Management. After graduating, She will be attending law school. Ever since she was little, Zyann always knew whatever she do she wants to contribute to a cause bigger than herself. No matter where life takes her, Zyann swore keep that promise to herself and always be there to give the unrepresented a voice.

Diamond is a rising Senior at Northern Illinois University from the South-Side of Chicago, IL. At NIU, she is double majoring in Family Social Services and Business Management with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility. She is minoring Marketing - Professional Sales. She is also in the final stages of obtaining her Real Estate Licensure.

williams grew up in a low-income Black community and saw many around her fall victim to their environment. Witnessing that is what sparked her interest in making a difference in Black communities. She began to excel in school and attended one of Illinois’ top high schools, Homewood-Flossmoor High School. This is where she began her Business and Social Service coursework.

Upon entering college, she joined several student and community organizations and soon became a campus leader. Her undergraduate career has taught two lessons important lessons. One, you are the author of your own story. Two, success is measured based on the definition that you create.

Although she has been academically successful this far, Diamond believes that she will achieve professional success once she starts her own nonprofit organization that provides resources, like education/job training, job placement, housing, etc., to underrepresented, underserved, and underprivileged communities.

As a chartering President of The Good Girl Movement, she understand the importance of patience and resilience. Diamond believes that the organization is an opportunity for women to not only explore themselves and their passions, but explore the passions and struggles of other women through our local philanthropy. The Good Girl Movement provides an unconditional love and support system for all women. She watched the organization grow from 3 schools and she is excited to see what’s to come. She says, “it feels great to know that I have hundreds of Good Girl sisters all over the country that share the same drive and passion as me”.

Carmen Mazyck

Shenandoah University

Carmen is a sophomore nursing major from Alexandria, VA. She is very passionate about using the arts as a form of therapeutic healing for those suffering from various types of pain. She aspires to provide individuals, particularly those with mental illnesses and chronic diseases, the opportunity to express their emotions in a way that can bring them joy and maybe even social change - in the same way she believes music and art have helped her throughout her journey in life. As a lifetime member of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, the experiences and values gained from 10 years of scouting have motivated her to lead the ladies of Shenandoah University’s Good Girl Movement Chapter. Carmen earned her Girl Scout Gold Award by creating workshops demonstrating different forms of art to youth in hopes of channeling their violent expressions into positive reflections. With her project Art on F.I.R.E. (Finding Inspiration in Reflective Expressions), she was able to illustrate to the youth living in D.C. public housing the importance of self-love, self-acceptance, and self-reflection through photography, drawing, music, dance, and poetry.

In addition to Carmen’s involvement in the Good Girl Movement, she currently serves as a Hornet Ambassador, Class of May 2022 Delegate for the Student Nurses Association, Publicist for the Black Student Union, and a First Year Seminar Mentor at Shenandoah University.

Carmen continues to stress the importance of self-care in everything she does on and off campus. She is all about serving others - a driving factor in her pursuit of a degree in the healthcare field. She looks forward to helping the ladies at Shenandoah University in fostering a safe haven for all in her new role as Chapter President of the Good Girl Movement.
