1. What do you think it means to be a good girl?

Being a good girl is being unapologetically you. It's so easy to lose yourself to the hottest trends and what’s popping right now, a good girl is someone who stays authentic as different trends roll in and out of style. She doesn’t care about fitting in. Standing out makes her personality genuine, unique, and loved. That’s a good girl!

2. As times begin to change, we as a community are trying new things. From meditating, to using crystals, and checking spiritual energy—many can say we are growing from the “inside out.” How  do you feel about this new wave of mindfulness and spiritual awareness, and do you believe that social media has played a huge role in its growth?

Most definitely. In a sense, it seems to be becoming ingenuine as its gained social media attention and praise. People are riding this “spiritual wave” to be cool and appear different. It’s a lot that goes into being spiritually aware, way more than an Instagram post. However, for those who are genuinely interested: understand that your spiritual journey is your own. It’s not all about crystals, chakras, and sage; its way deeper. Sure, those aspects are vital parts but it is important you practice the things you’ve been researching and learning more about.

3. What inspired you to dig deeper into spirituality and obtain your chakra healing certification?

To be honest, I started my spiritual journey and becoming interested in connecting to my higher self after the passing of my brother. I was empty. I was negative. I was...just dark inside. I didn’t like it, I wanted so badly to change myself. I didn’t even want to hang out with me. My senior year of high school, I studied Buddhism in my World Religions class. I was immediately intrigued by the way they live life and by how beautifully positive they are. I wanted this in my life. That’s really when it started. I researched their way of life and started learning practices and teachings. I got my certification in Chakra Healing to spread this to others. I am a healer, naturally. I’ve been in that dark place, I want to help others out of it too and now I am certified to do so :)

4. Tell us about the “Back to Earth Project.”

The Back to Earth Project is a beautiful work in progress! I have some OG supporters that I love so much, shoutout to you all! The purpose of this project is to inform and educate people about starting their spiritual journey and the things that come along with it. I came up with the idea after so many people started asked me about how I started or told me they wanted to start looking into crystals. Between the demands of work and school, it has become difficult to dedicate time to building my vision and making it exactly what I want it to be, but trust me I’m working! My website will launch soon so look out for that. I’m so excited to share things that I’ve learned with you all <3

5. We noticed you’re currently in an interracial relationship while at an HBCU, has that affected your bond, and if anything—made it stronger?

Yeah, I still trip on that sometimes - I went to an HBCU and still managed to find a white guy, lol. He’s great. I think what immediately attracted me to him was the fact that he was so different. Besides the obvious, he is different in this thinking and the way he views the world - he’s so open-minded and intellectual. I believe him being so open-minded comes from his courageousness, I don’t know anyone that would go to school 7,000+ miles away from home and be as successful as him. I love that he goes to an HBCU because he’s cultured (haha). It’s cool because he’s also in a historically Black Fraternity so he better understands Black culture and where my people come from and has a great appreciation for it.

6. What’s your favorite crystal and why?

Hm, thats so hard lol! I would say the crystal that I’m closest to would be my clear quartz honestly. I love my clear quartz because it has the ability to protect energy by opening your mind and heart to your higher self and it also is known to provide protection from harm in general. Since it is clear in color, it can vibrate at any colored frequency so it feeds all 7 of your chakras.

7. How are you able to heal others without getting too attached to their situations, falling into what many may call “the trap of empathy?”

Still working on that! I’m certainly an empath - I can literally feel someone's emotions if I stand too close for too long. I am also an overthinker so that doesn’t make for a great mix. But I think it's a matter of being mindful. I always have to remind myself that I can’t help everyone and that is just fine.

8. What’s a song that best describes you?

Flaws and All by Beyonce! Literally me. I really have my moments sometimes and that’s when I have to realign my chakras :) LOL. I’m really all over the place sometimes, and I’m okay with that because it's part of being a human being. I wonder how my loved ones, especially my boyfriend, deal with my craziness at times but - that’s exactly what they love about me.

9. How do you feel about the narrative of crystals and chakra reading as “witch-craft?”

IMG_3018.jpeg

“OPEN YOUR MIND” is what I say to people that believe this. My first response is that in your spiritual journey, in this regard, is a positive connective experience with a good (for lack of better words) Higher Being. Witchcraft uses magic and spells to often negatively alter outcomes. The history of studying chakras comes from a branch of philosophy called metaphysics. The metaphysical world is interest in learning about the fundamental nature of reality - not altering it for the negative.

10. People describe your energy as pure, what do you think is most important about being a light to others?

That’s beautiful, thank you! Whenever I have an encounter with someone I treat them how I want to be treated in return. I try to stay aware of my energy and my purpose. Making an effort to give people the best version of yourself will naturally make you a better person and make your light shine brighter.

11. What has been the most important lesson you learned during your spiritual journey?

That everyone’s is different and to stay away from social media (in regards to spirituality). People fantasize it way too much these days, it’s not as pretty as it seems. Some days you’ll be too lazy to meditate, some days you’ll question existence & a Higher Power, some days you’ll get so pissed off at someone you’ll lose your best self. And that's okay - is what I’ve learned. People don't share those parts though. Also, educate yourself. Really research, really read about it, don’t do things because they seem cool. It may not be for you.

12. What are chakra affirmations, and how often do you say them?

IMG_3017.jpeg

Chakra affirmations are what I like to call “warm fuzzies”. I went on a spiritual retreat once and that is what we referred to them as. Using the power of affirmations and positive talk over your chakras is one of the best ways to align yourself and channel your best self. Something as simple as saying “I am love, I will be love to people I see today” and repeating it as a mantra can have the power to boost your heart chakra so that you can display this love to others throughout the day; it literally heightens your frequency. I say affirmations often, you have to speak over yourself!

14. What’s your zodiac sign?

My sun is Libra. My moon and rising is in Cancer, I tend to feel my Cancer more than my Libra on an average day.
